1. Who We Are
“Macrox” (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Macrox mobile app and related backend services.

2. Information We Collect
2a) Information You Provide
- Profile information you enter: name/username, gender, height, weight, birth date (if you choose to provide them).
- City/location information you provide manually, or location selected by using current device location (if you choose to use that feature).
- Profile photo you upload (optional).
- Food logs you create: meal photos, meal descriptions, and optional notes.
- Receipt scan images you upload (optional) for inventory creation.
- Chat and group content you send: messages and images (only visible to participants, subject to this policy).
- Reports you submit: reason and optional description when reporting users/content.
2b) Automatically Collected Information
- Device information: device model, operating system version, app version.
- Usage and diagnostics: feature usage events, crash logs, performance metrics, timestamps.
- Precise location information: if you choose to use location features or tap “Use Current Location,” we may collect your device’s precise location (latitude and longitude) to help set your city/location and support location-based features.
We do not intentionally collect government-issued identifiers or medical records/diagnoses.
Nutrition outputs are estimates and not medical advice.
3. How We Collect Information
- Directly from you when you type information, upload photos, or use chat/scan features.
- Automatically from the app and device for diagnostics and performance (e.g., crashes, usage events).
- From device location services when you grant location permission and choose to use current location in the app.
- From our backend services needed to operate core functionality (account, chat, storage).
4. How We Use Your Information
- Provide core app features (account, meal tracking, inventory management, chats).
- Generate nutrition estimates, meal recognition, and receipt digitization outputs.
- Provide and improve location-based features, such as setting your city/location and showing relevant nearby users or local results.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce platform rules.
- Improve app performance and user experience (analytics/diagnostics).
5. AI Processing and Data Sharing (User Consent Required)
Some features use AI to generate outputs such as nutrition analysis and receipt item extraction.
Before any personal data is sent to a third-party AI service, we ask for your explicit permission in-app.
5a) AI Service Provider (“Who receives it”)
- OpenAI is our third-party AI service provider for AI-powered analysis.
- Data is sent to OpenAI through our backend servers only when you request an AI feature and you have granted permission.
5b) Exactly What Data We Send to OpenAI (“What data is sent”)
We send only the minimum data needed to process your AI request:
- Food Scan: the meal photo you select + any text you enter with it (optional).
- Describe Meal: the meal description text you type.
- Receipt Scan: the receipt photo you upload (used to extract item names/details for your inventory).
5c) What We Do NOT Send to OpenAI
- Your full profile (name, gender, weight, height, birth date).
- Your chat history or other unrelated chat messages.
- Contacts list.
- Advertising identifiers for tracking/ads.
Note: Standard internet/network metadata (e.g., IP address) may be processed by servers as part of delivering requests and security logging.
We do not include such metadata as AI “input” for nutrition/receipt analysis.
5d) Consent & Controls
- Consent prompt: The first time you try to use an AI feature, the app shows an “AI Processing Permission” screen describing what data will be sent and to whom.
- No consent = no AI: If you decline, AI processing does not run and AI requests are not sent.
- Change anytime: You can enable/disable AI Processing from Profile → My Account → AI Processing.
6. Data Sharing (Other Service Providers)
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share data with trusted service providers only as needed to operate the App, such as:
- Hosting/Storage providers to store uploaded images and run backend services.
- Push Notifications providers to deliver notifications (if enabled).
- Analytics/Crash reporting tools to improve stability and performance (if enabled).
- Location/Maps service providers to help search places, convert place selections into coordinates, and reverse geocode coordinates into city/location names.
- Google Maps Platform / Places services may process location-related queries you make in the app, such as place search, autocomplete, and reverse geocoding.
- OpenAI for AI processing only after you grant permission.
7. Chat & Social Features
- Chats and groups are visible only to participants.
- You can block users, reject requests, or clear chats within the app.
- We may review content only if required for safety (e.g., reported content) or to comply with law.
8. Data Retention

Food logs (tracking history): Food logs are stored to support your long-term nutrition tracking.
Food logs cannot be individually deleted from within the app once saved.

Before saving a food log: When you scan a meal or receipt using AI, we first show you a confirmation step
to review the extracted results and ask whether you want to save/add them to your logs or inventory.

Chats and messages: You can clear chat history from within the app. Clearing a chat removes messages from your view.

Receipt scans / inventory items: You can remove receipt-based entries and inventory items from within the app.

Account-related data: We retain your account data while your account is active so the app can function properly.

Diagnostics and crash logs: We may retain technical logs for a limited time to debug issues and improve performance.

Account deletion (permanent removal): If you request account deletion, we permanently delete your account and associated user data
(including profile, food logs, inventory, chats, and uploads) from our active systems within a reasonable period, subject to legal requirements.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data (such as secure transport and access controls),
but no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.
10. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and update your profile information in the app.
- AI Processing control: enable/disable AI Processing anytime from Profile → My Account → AI Processing.
- Location permission: you can deny or revoke location permission anytime from your device settings. You can also manually enter your city/location instead of using current location.
- Inventory management: you can remove inventory items and receipt-based entries you added.
- Chat controls: you can clear chat history and block or report other users.
- Account deletion: you can request deletion of your account to permanently remove your data (including profile, food logs, inventory, chats, and uploads) from our active systems within a reasonable period, subject to legal requirements.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted with an updated “Last updated” date.
